“A garden and its many souls” is the evocative title of a project connected with an exhibition organised at Villa in Palmerino in Florence. It’s a tribute to the previous owner, artist Lola Costa, with many of us artists from all over the world who were invited to send in one of our Palmerino works as the place has welcomed and nurtured us over the years. “A Florentine garden: early women expats and artists of today”, is organised by the Il Palmerino Cultural Association and the Calliope Arts Foundation in collaboration with the British Institute of Florence and is part of the ”Estate Fiorentina”.
This is my contribution, painted during a springtime residency at Il Palmerino, when an overnight frost killed off the flourishing vines, but elsewhere the garden had sprung to life. It is part of a beautiful three minute video showing the works of invited artists who have lived and worked at Il Palmerino. It can be found on YouTube:
